Kombinációk refers to the mathematical concept of combinations, which are ways of selecting items from a larger set where the order of selection does not matter. In contrast to permutations, where the order is significant, combinations focus solely on the group of items chosen. For example, if you have a set of three fruits: apple, banana, and cherry, and you want to choose two of them, the combinations would be {apple, banana}, {apple, cherry}, and {banana, cherry}. The order in which you pick them, like {banana, apple}, is considered the same combination as {apple, banana}.

The number of combinations of choosing k items from a set of n distinct items is denoted by C(n, k), nCk, or $\binom{n}{k}$. This value can be calculated using the formula $\frac{n!}{k!(n-k)!}$, where "!" denotes the factorial operation (e.g., 5! = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1). The factorial of 0 is defined as 1. This formula is fundamental in probability and statistics, used to determine the number of possible outcomes in various scenarios. For instance, calculating the number of ways to draw a specific hand of cards in poker or the number of different committees that can be formed from a group of people relies on the principles of combinations.
