Kocharyan

Robert Kocharyan is an Armenian politician who served as the second President of Armenia from 1998 to 2008. He was also the first President of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic from 1994 to 1997. Prior to his presidency, Kocharyan held various government positions in Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.

Born in Stepanakert, Nagorno-Karabakh, Kocharyan began his career in engineering before entering public service. He played a significant role in the Nagorno-Karabakh War. His presidency was marked by economic reforms and efforts to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. During his tenure, Armenia experienced economic growth, though concerns were raised about corruption and democratic freedoms.
