Knokke-Heist, commonly referred to as Knokke, is a municipality located in the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium. It is situated near the North Sea coast, approximately 10 kilometers north of the city of Middelkerke and 55 kilometers west of the city of Bruges.

The municipality of Knokke-Heist was formed in 1970 through the merger of Knokke and Heist, two previously separate municipalities. The area has a long history dating back to the 13th century when it was a small fishing village. During World War I, the area was the site of heavy fighting and damage was inflicted on the town and its inhabitants.

Today, Knokke-Heist is a popular tourist destination known for its beautiful beaches, upscale boutiques and restaurants, and vibrant cultural scene. The area is also renowned for its horse racing, with the Royal Ostend Tennis and Squash Club hosting international competitions.
