There are two main types of cloaking: content cloaking and server cloaking.

Content cloaking involves serving different content to search engines and human visitors. For example, a website might display a page with valuable keywords to search engines while showing a different, less relevant page to human visitors. This technique aims to deceive search engines into ranking the page higher for certain keywords, even though the actual content is not relevant to those keywords.

Server cloaking, on the other hand, involves serving different URLs to search engines and human visitors. This can be done by detecting the user agent (the software that requests the page, such as a web browser or a search engine crawler) and redirecting to different URLs based on the user agent. For instance, a website might redirect search engine crawlers to a page with valuable keywords while redirecting human visitors to a different page.

Both types of cloaking are against the guidelines of major search engines like Google, as they aim to provide users with relevant and high-quality search results. Websites that engage in cloaking can face penalties, including being removed from search engine results or being banned from participating in their search engine programs. It is important for website owners to ensure that their content is accessible and relevant to all users, regardless of the user agent.
