Kiselföreningar
Kiselföreningar is a Swedish term referring to chemical compounds containing silicon. Silicon, a metalloid, forms a wide variety of compounds with other elements, most notably oxygen. The most abundant kiselförening on Earth is silicon dioxide (SiO2), also known as silica. Silica exists in many different forms, including quartz, cristobalite, and tridymite, and is a fundamental component of sand, glass, and many minerals.
Other important kiselföreningar include silicates, which are salts or esters of silicic acid. These compounds are
Silicon also forms compounds with hydrogen, known as silanes, and with halogens, such as silicon tetrachloride
