KircheMissouriSynode, known in English as the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS), is a conservative confessional Lutheran denomination based in the United States with a global mission network. It traces its roots to German immigrant congregations and was formally organized in 1847 in Chicago under C. F. W. Walther. Its origin lies in the German Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Missouri, Ohio, and other states, later adopting the Missouri Synod name.
