Kindlustustooted

Kindlustustooted are financial products offered by insurers to transfer risk from the insured to the insurer in exchange for a premium. They provide financial compensation or services in the event of predefined risks, such as illness, death, damage to property, liability, or loss of income.

The main categories include life insurance, health insurance, property and casualty insurance (home, contents, and commercial property), motor vehicle insurance, liability insurance, travel insurance, and business interruption coverage. Some products combine several coverages in a package or offer modular options.

Product terms are determined through underwriting. Insurers assess risk, set premiums, coverage limits, deductibles, and exclusions. A policy contract describes the coverages, conditions, claims procedures, and endorsements that modify standard terms. In a loss event, the insurer pays the agreed compensation or provides services defined in the policy. Premiums are paid to maintain coverage for a defined term, with renewal or cancellation options.

Regulation: In Estonia, insurance activities are supervised by the Financial Supervisory Authority. Compliance with EU frameworks such as Solvency II and the Insurance Distribution Directive governs capital requirements, consumer protection, disclosure, and product governance. Consumers receive policy documents detailing coverage and their rights, including withdrawal rights where applicable.

Distribution: Kindlustustooted are sold through insurers’ direct channels, through brokers and agents, and via online platforms. Product design aims to balance affordability with adequate risk transfer and clear terms to help consumers make informed choices.
