Kiambere
Kiambere is a location in Kenya, specifically within Mbeere South Constituency, Embu County. It is known for the Kiambere Hydroelectric Power Station, a significant energy-generating facility in the country. The power station is part of the Seven Forks Scheme, a series of dams and power stations on the Tana River. Kiambere Dam, constructed in the late 1980s, impounds water from the Tana River to create Kiambere Reservoir, which is used to drive the turbines for electricity generation. The project was a collaborative effort involving the Kenyan government and international partners. The area surrounding Kiambere has a rural character, with agriculture being a primary economic activity for many residents. The reservoir itself also supports fishing activities. The development of the Kiambere power station has had an impact on the local environment and economy, providing much-needed electricity for national consumption and influencing the landscape through the creation of the reservoir.
