Khujand

Khujand is a city in northern Tajikistan and the administrative center of Sughd Region. It lies on the left bank of the Syr Darya and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited settlements in Central Asia. The city serves as a major urban and economic hub for the northern part of the country.

Historically, Khujand is associated with the ancient settlement of Alexandria Eschate, founded by Alexander the Great. It developed as a key stop on the Silk Road, linking Central Asia with markets to the west and the east.
