Kasvavilla

Kasvavilla is a grammatical form in Finnish. It represents the adessive plural form of the present active participle kasvava, roughly translating to “on the growing” or “growing” in a plural, adessive context. The form is used as an attributive adjective that accompanies plural nouns in the adessive case.

The construction combines the verb stem kasvaa (to grow) with the participle suffix -va to create a descriptive form, and adds the adessive plural ending -lla to indicate location or state on/at something in plural. As a result, kasvavilla is not a separate lexical word but a declined participial adjective used in specific syntactic positions.

In practice, kasvavilla is common in horticultural, ecological, and scientific writing. It appears in phrases such as kasvavilla kasveilla (on the growing plants) or kasvavilla pelloilla (in the growing fields), where it qualifiers plural nouns in the adessive.
