Kasettilevyillä

Kasettilevyillä refers to music released on cassette tapes. Cassettes, officially known as compact cassettes, are an analog magnetic tape recording format for audio recording and playback. Introduced by Philips in 1963, they gained immense popularity in the 1970s and 1980s as a portable and affordable way to listen to music, record audio, and even create mixtapes.

The format consists of two small spools, around which a magnetic tape is wound. Sound is recorded as magnetic patterns on the tape. While offering portability and ease of recording, cassette tapes were known for their lower fidelity compared to vinyl records or later digital formats, susceptible to issues like tape hiss, wow, and flutter. Despite these limitations, the tactile nature of handling tapes, the ritual of creating mixtapes, and their accessibility contributed to their widespread adoption and nostalgic appeal.

In the digital age, cassette tapes have experienced a resurgence as a niche format, embraced by some independent artists and music enthusiasts seeking an alternative to digital streaming or a connection to a retro aesthetic.
