Karboksylsyror

Karboksylsyror, also known as carboxylic acids, are a class of organic compounds that contain a carboxyl group (-COOH) attached to an alkyl or aryl group. This functional group is responsible for the characteristic acidic properties of these compounds. They can also undergo decarboxylation, a process where the carboxyl group is removed as carbon dioxide. This reaction is crucial in various biological processes, such as the citric acid cycle in metabolism.

Karboksylsyror have a wide range of applications in industry and everyday life. They are used as preservatives, flavorings, and in the production of polymers and pharmaceuticals.
