Kapslingsskyddet
Kapslingsskyddet, often referred to by its abbreviation IP rating, is a standard used to classify the degree of protection provided by an electrical enclosure against ingress of solid objects and water. The International Protection marking, as it is formally known, consists of the letters IP followed by two digits. The first digit indicates the level of protection against solid foreign objects, including dust. A higher first digit signifies better protection. The second digit indicates the level of protection against water. Again, a higher second digit denotes greater protection against water ingress.
