Kanonosaurus

Kanonosaurus is a genus of titanosaurian sauropod dinosaur from the Late Cretaceous period. Fossils attributed to this genus have been found in the Gyeongsang Supergroup of South Korea. The type species, Kanonosaurus koshuensis, was described in 2017 based on partial remains. These include vertebrae, ribs, and limb bones, suggesting a quadrupedal herbivore typical of other titanosaurs.

The discovery of Kanonosaurus is significant as it adds to the diversity of sauropods known from East Asia during the Cretaceous. While detailed phylogenetic analysis is ongoing, its placement within Titanosauria suggests it was part of a widespread group that dominated herbivore fauna in many parts of the world during the Mesozoic Era. The fossils indicate a medium-sized sauropod, though precise dimensions are difficult to ascertain from the available material. Further discoveries may provide more complete specimens and a clearer understanding of Kanonosaurus's anatomy, behavior, and evolutionary relationships within the sauropod family tree.
