Kandawgyi

Kandawgyi, also known as Royal Lake, is an artificial lake and surrounding park in Yangon, Myanmar. Located along the eastern edge of central Yangon, the lake forms a focal point for leisure and tourism. The name Kandawgyi means “royal lake” in Burmese. The lake and adjacent park were laid out during the British colonial period and have since become a major urban recreation area. On the eastern shore stands the Karaweik Palace, a distinctive structure designed to resemble a royal barge; it houses a restaurant and cultural venue.

The lake is part of Kandawgyi Nature Park, a protected area that includes landscaped gardens, promenades, and
