Külvivaba

Külvivaba is an Estonian term that translates to "seedless" and is primarily used in the context of agriculture and food production. It refers to fruits, vegetables, or other plant-based products that have been bred or cultivated to lack seeds, or have seeds that are so small and underdeveloped as to be unnoticeable or inedible.

The development of seedless varieties is often achieved through selective breeding and horticultural techniques such as grafting or the use of specific growth hormones. These methods encourage parthenocarpy, the process of fruit development without fertilization, which results in seedless fruits. Common examples of seedless produce include seedless watermelons, grapes, oranges, and certain types of cucumbers.

The appeal of seedless produce for consumers lies in its convenience and ease of consumption, eliminating the need to remove seeds. This characteristic makes them particularly popular for snacking, in juices, and in dishes where seeds might be undesirable.
