The primary goal of maintaining a cold chain is to slow down the degradation processes that occur in these products, preventing spoilage, loss of efficacy, or damage.

The cold chain begins at the point of production or manufacture and extends through storage, transportation, and distribution to the final point of sale or use. Each stage must maintain a specific temperature range, which can vary depending on the product.
