Käskymuotoista is a Finnish grammatical concept referring to the imperative mood. The imperative is used to express commands, requests, or suggestions. In Finnish, the imperative form varies depending on the person and number of the verb. For the second person singular (you, informal), the imperative often takes the root form of the verb. For example, *tule* means "come". For the second person plural (you, formal or plural), the imperative is typically formed by adding *-kaa* or *-kää* to the root, such as *tulkaa* for "come" (plural/formal). The first person plural imperative, often used as a suggestion or invitation ("let's"), is formed with *-mme*, as in *tulemme* meaning "let's come". The third person imperative ("may they" or "let them") is formed using the verb *antakoon* followed by the subject, or in some contexts, a periphrastic construction with *pitää* or *saada*. While direct commands are common, the Finnish imperative can also convey politeness or a softer suggestion depending on context and intonation.
