Järjestysasteikolliset
Järjestysasteikolliset (Finnish for "ordinal scale") are a type of measurement scale used in statistics and research. In this scale, data categories are ordered or ranked, but the intervals between categories are not equal. This means that while the order of values is meaningful (e.g., higher numbers represent a higher rank), the magnitude of the difference between categories cannot be assumed to be uniform. For example, educational levels (e.g., primary school, secondary school, university) or satisfaction ratings (e.g., very dissatisfied, dissatisfied, neutral, satisfied, very satisfied) are common ordinal scale variables. These scales are useful for analyzing data where the order of categories is relevant but precise numerical differences are not. They allow for non-parametric statistical tests and are often used when interval data is not appropriate.
