Jännitejakosverkon

Jännitejakosverkon, meaning voltage divider network in Finnish, is a fundamental electronic circuit. It is constructed using two or more resistors connected in series. The primary function of a jännitejakosverkon is to reduce a higher input voltage to a lower output voltage. This is achieved by distributing the input voltage across the series resistors according to Ohm's Law. The output voltage is typically taken across one of the resistors.

The formula for a simple two-resistor voltage divider is Vout = Vin * (R2 / (R1 + R2)), where Vin is the input voltage, Vout is the output voltage, R1 is the resistance of the first resistor, and R2 is the resistance of the second resistor (across which the output is measured). The ratio of the resistances determines the division of the voltage.

They can be employed to provide a specific reference voltage for other circuits, to scale down a signal voltage for measurement by an analog-to-digital converter, or to adjust the bias voltage for transistors.
