Julgeolekunõukogul

The Julgeolekunõukogu, or Security Council in English, is a key body within the Estonian governmental system responsible for coordinating national security and defense policy. Its primary role is to prepare decisions for the Riigikogu (Estonian Parliament) and the Government of Estonia concerning matters of national security and defense. This includes issues related to the protection of Estonia's independence, territorial integrity, and constitutional order.

The council is chaired by the President of Estonia and includes the Prime Minister, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of the Interior, and the Commander of the Defence Forces. Other ministers or officials may be invited to attend meetings as needed, depending on the agenda. The Julgeolekunõukogu convenes regularly to discuss current security challenges, review defense plans, and make recommendations on significant security-related issues.

Its deliberations and decisions are crucial for ensuring a cohesive and effective national security strategy for Estonia.
