The Jahreswärmeindex, often translated as Annual Heat Index or Annual Heating Index, is a meteorological and climatological parameter used to quantify the heating needs of a building or a region over the course of a year. It essentially represents the cumulative amount of heat energy that must be supplied to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature, taking into account both the ambient outdoor temperature and the duration of cold periods.
