Jagdgruppen
Jagdgruppen is the German designation for fighter groups within a Jagdgeschwader, the Luftwaffe’s fighter wings during World War II. A Jagdgruppe served as an intermediate organizational level between the Staffel (squadron) and the Geschwader (wing). Each Jagdgruppe was led by a Gruppenkommandeur and typically consisted of three Staffeln, usually designated I., II., and III. The three Staffeln together formed a group of roughly 30 to 40 aircraft at full strength, depending on losses and reinforcements.
