Isäntäorganismit
Isäntäorganismit, also known as host organisms, are living entities that harbor another organism, known as a symbiont or parasite, within or upon themselves. This relationship can take various forms, including mutualism, commensalism, or parasitism. In a mutualistic relationship, both the host and the symbiont benefit. For example, the bacteria in the human gut that aid digestion are in a mutualistic relationship with us. Commensalism occurs when one organism benefits and the other is neither harmed nor helped, such as barnacles attaching to a whale for transport. Parasitism is a more detrimental relationship for the host, where the parasite benefits at the expense of the host.
The specific type of interaction depends on the evolutionary history and biological needs of the organisms
