Isopropüülrühm
Isopropüülrühm is the Estonian term for the isopropyl group. It is a branched-up alkyl radical with the chemical formula C₃H₇. Specifically, it consists of a central carbon atom bonded to one hydrogen atom and two methyl groups (-CH₃). The third bond of the central carbon is attached to the rest of the molecule. Its structure can be represented as -CH(CH₃)₂. The isopropyl group is a common substituent found in many organic compounds, including pharmaceuticals, solvents, and polymers. It is derived from propane by the removal of one hydrogen atom from the central carbon atom. The name "isopropyl" itself is derived from "propyl" and "iso," indicating a specific isomer of the propyl group. In Estonian chemical nomenclature, "rühm" translates to "group." Therefore, "isopropüülrühm" directly refers to the isopropyl functional group within an Estonian context.
