Isobologrammid
Isobologrammid is a term sometimes used in pharmacology and toxicology to describe a graphical representation of the combined effects of two or more substances. More commonly, the term isobologram is used for this purpose. An isobologram is a plot where the doses of two drugs that produce a specific effect are plotted on the axes. The line connecting these doses represents the isoeffect curve. If the combined dose of two drugs falls on this line, the interaction is considered additive. If the combined dose falls below the line, it is synergistic, meaning the combined effect is greater than the sum of individual effects. Conversely, if the combined dose falls above the line, it is antagonistic, meaning the combined effect is less than the sum of individual effects. This graphical method helps researchers understand drug interactions and determine whether combinations are beneficial or detrimental. The concept is widely applied in studies investigating drug efficacy, toxicity, and potential therapeutic strategies.
