Islamska

Islamska is a feminine singular adjective used in several South Slavic languages to mean “Islamic” or “of Islam.” It modifies feminine nouns and agrees in gender, number, and case with the noun it describes. Its masculine form is islamski and its neuter form is islamsko. The root is Islam, borrowed from Arabic, with the Slavic suffix -ski/-ska/-sko forming adjectives that denote relation or belonging.

Usage examples include islamska umjetnost (Islamic art), islamska zajednica (Islamic community), islamska država (Islamic state), islamska vjera (Islamic faith). The phrase islamska kultura might refer to cultural expressions associated with Islam. In some contexts the term appears in toponyms or in official names, where Islamska is capitalized as part of a proper noun, such as Islamska zajednica or Islamska zajednica u BiH.

Note: The term is neutral in itself; it is not a designation of a denomination but a descriptor of things related to Islam. In English translations it is commonly rendered as “Islamic.”
