Common examples include lithium salts dissolved in organic solvents or ionic liquids. Liquid ion conductors are widely used in liquid electrolyte batteries and electrochemical sensors because of their high ionic conductivity and ease of processing.

The choice of ion conductor depends on the specific application requirements, such as temperature range, ionic conductivity, stability, and cost. Researchers are continually exploring new materials and optimizing existing ones to improve the performance and efficiency of ion conductor-based devices.
