Innsugging
Innsugging is a term of Scandinavian origin that refers to the act of sucking or drawing in something, often used in a figurative sense to describe a feeling of being overwhelmed or engrossed. While literally meaning "sucking in," it can be applied to situations where one is deeply absorbed in a task, a book, or an experience, to the point of being unaware of their surroundings. It can also describe a more negative sensation, such as feeling pulled into a difficult or unpleasant situation, from which it is hard to escape.
The concept of innsugging often appears in discussions of immersion, particularly in relation to activities like
