Injeção

Injeção refers to the process of introducing a substance into a medium, typically a liquid or gas, often for analysis, reaction, or delivery purposes. In the context of analytical chemistry, injection is a crucial step in many chromatographic techniques, such as gas chromatography (GC) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A small, precisely measured sample is injected into the mobile phase, which then carries it through the stationary phase for separation and detection. The method of injection, whether manual or automated, and the type of injector used (e.g., autosampler, split/splitless injector) can significantly impact the accuracy and precision of the analysis.

In the field of medicine, injection is a common method of administering drugs or vaccines directly into the body. This can be done subcutaneously (under the skin), intramuscularly (into a muscle), or intravenously (into a vein), depending on the desired rate of absorption and the properties of the substance being administered. Medical injections require sterile needles and syringes to prevent infection and are performed by trained healthcare professionals.

In engineering, injection also plays a role in processes like plastic injection molding, where molten plastic is injected under high pressure into a mold to create a desired shape. Similarly, in internal combustion engines, fuel is injected into the combustion chamber. The term can also be used in a broader sense, such as injecting a dye into a fluid flow to visualize its movement.
