IgEerittymistä refers to the process of IgE antibodies being secreted or released by plasma cells. Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is a type of antibody that plays a crucial role in the immune system, particularly in allergic reactions and defense against parasites. Plasma cells, which are differentiated B lymphocytes, are responsible for producing and secreting antibodies, including IgE.

The synthesis and secretion of IgE are typically triggered by specific allergens or antigens that the body encounters. When an allergen enters the body, B cells are activated and, under the influence of certain T helper cells (specifically T helper type 2 cells), differentiate into plasma cells. These plasma cells then begin to produce and release large quantities of IgE antibodies specific to that particular allergen.

The secreted IgE antibodies circulate in the bloodstream and bind to the surface of mast cells and basophils. Upon subsequent exposure to the same allergen, the allergen binds to the IgE on these cells, causing them to degranulate and release inflammatory mediators such as histamine. This release of mediators is responsible for the characteristic symptoms of allergic reactions, including itching, swelling, and airway constriction. Therefore, IgEerittymistä is a fundamental step in the development of allergic sensitization and immediate hypersensitivity responses.
