Idmértékegységek refer to units of time measurement. The most fundamental and widely used unit is the second, which forms the basis of the International System of Units (SI). A second is defined as the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine levels of the ground state of the cesium-133 atom.

From the second, other common units are derived. A minute consists of 60 seconds, and an hour is composed of 60 minutes, totaling 3,600 seconds. A day is equivalent to 24 hours. Longer durations are measured in weeks (7 days), months (which vary in length, typically around 30 or 31 days, with February being an exception), and years. A common year has 365 days, while a leap year, occurring every four years (with some exceptions), has 366 days to account for the Earth's orbital period.

Beyond these everyday units, larger scales of time include decades (10 years), centuries (100 years), and millennia (1,000 years). Historically, various cultures and civilizations have used different systems for measuring time, often based on astronomical observations like the cycles of the moon and sun. While the SI system provides a standardized framework, older or specialized units might still be encountered in specific contexts.
