Ibériaifélsziget

The Iberian Peninsula, known in Catalan as la península Ibèrica and in Portuguese as a Península Ibérica, is a geographic region in southwestern Europe. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the east and south, the Atlantic Ocean to the north and west, and the Strait of Gibraltar to the south, separating it from Africa. The peninsula is dominated by the Pyrenees mountain range to the northeast, which forms a natural border with France.

Politically, the Iberian Peninsula is divided among three countries: Spain, Portugal, and Andorra. The British Overseas Territory of Gibraltar is also located on the southern tip. The peninsula's diverse geography includes mountain ranges like the Pyrenees and the Sierra Nevada, as well as extensive plains and plateaus, such as the Meseta Central. Its coastlines vary from rugged cliffs to sandy beaches.

Historically, the Iberian Peninsula has been a crossroads of cultures and civilizations, influenced by Romans, Visigoths, Moors, and various Christian kingdoms. This rich history has left a lasting impact on its architecture, languages, and traditions.
