IPvédfokozatú is a Hungarian term that translates to "IP protected degree" or "degree of IP protection." It refers to the classification system used to indicate the level of protection that an electrical enclosure or device offers against the ingress of solid objects and liquids. This classification is standardized internationally by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) under the standard IEC 60529.

The IP rating consists of two digits. The first digit indicates the protection against solid objects, such as dust and debris. A rating of 0 means no protection, while a rating of 6 signifies complete protection against dust. The second digit indicates the protection against liquids, primarily water. A rating of 0 means no protection against water, and a rating of 8 signifies protection against immersion in water under specified conditions.

For example, an IP67 rating means the enclosure is dust-tight (the highest level of protection against solids) and protected against temporary immersion in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. An IP20 rating, on the other hand, indicates protection against solid objects larger than 12.5 mm (like a finger) and no protection against water.
