In mathematics, an interval represents a set of real numbers between two given numbers. These numbers are called endpoints. An interval can be closed, open, or half-open. The right endpoint refers to the largest number in the interval.

For example, in the closed interval [a, b], both a and b are included in the set. Here, b is the right endpoint. In the open interval (a, b), neither a nor b are included. However, b still represents the right endpoint, indicating the upper limit that the numbers in the interval approach but do not reach. For a half-open interval like [a, b) or (a, b], b is also considered the right endpoint, even though it may not be included in the interval itself.
