Hyvissä
Hyvissä is a Finnish adjective form, not a standalone lexical item. It represents the inessive plural form of the adjective hyv, which means good. In Finnish, adjectives agree with the nouns they modify in number and case, and the inessive case denotes a location or state “in” something. When the noun is plural, the adjective also takes the plural inessive suffix, yielding hyvissä.
Hyvissä is used to describe plural nouns in phrases that convey a state or condition of being
- Tilaisuus järjestettiin hyvissä olosuhteissa. (The event was held in good conditions.)
- Hän on hyvissä voimissaan. (He is in good health/strength.)
hyvä is the base form; hyvän (genitive), hyviä (partitive), hyvät (nominative plural), and hyvissä (inessive plural)
