Hypothalamicreleasing refers to a class of peptide hormones produced by the hypothalamus, a small but crucial region of the brain. These releasing hormones are secreted from neurosecretory cells in the hypothalamus into the hypophyseal portal system, a specialized network of blood vessels that connects the hypothalamus directly to the anterior pituitary gland. Upon reaching the anterior pituitary, they stimulate or inhibit the release of specific anterior pituitary hormones.
