Humanx

Humanx is a term used in science fiction to describe the collaborative civilization formed by humans and alien species in Alan Dean Foster's fictional universe, most notably within the Humanx Commonwealth. It is a portmanteau of human and xen-, signaling the fusion of human and alien cultures under a shared polity.

Origins and members: In Foster's works from the 1970s onward, the Humanx Commonwealth is an interstellar federation built on peaceful contact, trade, and joint governance. The core partners are humans and the Thranx, an insect-like alien species; other intelligent species participate as associates.

Structure and culture: The Commonwealth is depicted as a federation with diplomatic institutions, treaties, and cooperative science and exploration. Narratives center on cross-species diplomacy, cultural exchange, and the tensions and opportunities that arise from human–alien contact.
