Hovedaksler, also known as the main axles, are a critical component of the suspension system in vehicles. This design is simpler and less expensive but can lead to less comfortable rides and reduced handling.

Main axles are connected to the wheels through a differential, which allows the wheels to rotate at different speeds when the vehicle is turning. This is essential for maintaining traction and stability during cornering. The differential also houses the final drive components, which transfer power from the transmission to the wheels.

Regular maintenance of the main axles is crucial for the safety and performance of the vehicle. This includes checking for wear and tear, ensuring proper lubrication, and addressing any leaks or damage. In some cases, the main axles may need to be replaced if they are severely damaged or worn out.
