Homolytischer refers to a type of chemical bond cleavage known as homolytic cleavage or homolysis. This process occurs when a covalent bond breaks in such a way that each fragment retains one of the bonding electrons. This results in the formation of two neutral species, each carrying an unpaired electron. These species are called radicals.
