Hedonistisille
Hedonistisille is the Finnish word for "hedonistic" (plural/genitive case). It refers to a philosophical or ethical stance that emphasizes pleasure as the highest good and the ultimate aim of human life. A hedonistic approach suggests that actions are morally right if they promote pleasure or happiness, and morally wrong if they produce pain or unhappiness. This concept can be traced back to ancient Greek philosophers such as Aristippus of Cyrene, founder of the Cyrenaic school, who argued that immediate, bodily pleasures were the most valuable. Epicurus, another prominent figure, also advocated for pleasure but distinguished between different types of pleasures, prioritizing mental and tranquil pleasures over fleeting, intense ones, and emphasizing moderation and the absence of pain (ataraxia).
