Hawwahs

Hawwahs is a term used in some interpretations of Islamic tradition to refer to Eve, the wife of Adam. The name Hawwah is believed to derive from a root word meaning "life" or "living," reflecting her status as the mother of all humanity. In Islamic theology, Hawwah is presented as a created being, formed from Adam, and together they were placed in Paradise.

The narrative in the Quran describes how both Adam and Hawwah were tempted by Satan and subsequently ate from the forbidden tree, leading to their expulsion from Paradise. This event is understood as a test of their obedience and a pivotal moment in human history, marking the beginning of mortal life and the need for divine guidance. Islamic teachings emphasize that both Adam and Hawwah sinned, and both sought forgiveness from God, which was granted.

Unlike some other traditions, Islamic accounts generally do not assign sole blame to Hawwah for the transgression. Both are seen as equally responsible for their actions. Hawwah's role is significant as the progenitor of humankind and an example of human fallibility and the subsequent divine mercy. Her story is often used to illustrate themes of temptation, repentance, and the importance of divine guidance.
