Hansteel

Hansteel, officially known as Wuhan Iron and Steel Corporation, was a major Chinese state-owned steel producer. Established in 1958, it was headquartered in Wuhan, Hubei province. Hansteel played a significant role in China's industrial development, particularly in supplying steel for infrastructure projects and manufacturing.

The company's operations encompassed a wide range of steel products, including hot-rolled, cold-rolled, and coated steel sheets, as well as specialized steel for various industrial applications. Hansteel was known for its extensive production facilities and its commitment to technological advancement within the steel industry. It was one of the largest steel enterprises in China by production capacity and revenue for many years.

In 2016, Hansteel underwent a significant restructuring through a merger with Baosteel Group Corporation, forming the China Baowu Steel Group Corporation. This consolidation aimed to create a more competitive global steel giant and optimize resources within China's steel sector. Following the merger, Hansteel ceased to operate as an independent entity, with its assets and operations integrated into the larger Baowu Group. The legacy of Hansteel remains as a foundational element in the development of China's modern steel industry.
