Halfoctave

Halfoctave is a musical concept referring to an interval that is exactly half the size of a perfect octave. While a perfect octave represents a doubling of frequency and is typically perceived as the same note but at a higher or lower pitch, a halfoctave is a much smaller interval. In the context of equal temperament tuning, a perfect octave is divided into twelve semitones. A halfoctave would therefore encompass six semitones.
