HDACestäjiä
HDACestäjiä, also known as HDAC inhibitors, are a class of drugs that work by blocking the action of enzymes called histone deacetylases (HDACs). These enzymes play a crucial role in regulating gene expression by modifying the structure of chromatin, the complex of DNA and proteins that forms chromosomes. Specifically, HDACs remove acetyl groups from histone proteins, leading to a more condensed chromatin structure that makes it harder for transcription factors to access the DNA and initiate gene transcription.
By inhibiting HDACs, these drugs prevent the removal of acetyl groups, thereby promoting a more open chromatin
HDAC inhibitors have been approved for the treatment of certain types of cancer, including cutaneous T-cell
