Högspänningsförsörjning

Högspänningsförsörjning refers to the supply of electrical power at high voltage levels. This is a critical component in many modern electrical systems, particularly for the transmission and distribution of electricity over long distances. High voltage is used to reduce current for a given amount of power, which in turn minimizes resistive losses in the transmission lines.

The generation of high voltage typically occurs at power plants where electricity is produced. Before it is transmitted, this electricity is stepped up to very high voltage levels, often hundreds of kilovolts (kV), using transformers. These high voltage transmission lines then carry the power across the country to substations.

At substations, transformers are used again to step down the voltage to intermediate levels suitable for distribution to local areas. Further step-down transformers are then employed to reduce the voltage to levels that can be safely used by consumers, both industrial and residential. This process of stepping up and stepping down voltage is fundamental to the efficient and practical delivery of electricity.
