Gyökérkönyvtár

Gyökérkönyvtár, often translated as "root directory" in English, refers to the uppermost level of a directory structure in a file system. It is the starting point from which all other directories and files are organized. In most operating systems, the root directory is represented by a specific symbol. For example, in Unix-like systems (Linux, macOS), it is represented by a forward slash (`/`). In Microsoft Windows, it is represented by a drive letter followed by a backslash, such as `C:\` for the primary hard drive.

All files and subdirectories are contained within the root directory, either directly or indirectly through nested directories. Navigating the file system typically begins by locating the root. Understanding the concept of the gyökérkönyvtár is fundamental to comprehending how files and data are structured and accessed on a computer. It acts as the main container for the entire file system hierarchy. Any operation that involves managing files, such as creating, deleting, or moving them, is ultimately relative to this central directory.
