Gyógyszerformuláció refers to the process of developing a pharmaceutical product. It involves transforming a pure active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) into a usable and stable dosage form that can be administered to patients. This process is crucial for ensuring the drug's safety, efficacy, and patient compliance.

The formulation process considers several factors, including the API's physical and chemical properties, its intended route of administration (e.g., oral, intravenous, topical), the desired release profile of the drug (immediate, sustained, or delayed), and the stability of the final product. Excipients, which are inactive ingredients, are carefully selected and combined with the API to create the final dosage form. These excipients can include binders, fillers, disintegrants, lubricants, coatings, preservatives, and flavoring agents, among others.

Common dosage forms include tablets, capsules, solutions, suspensions, creams, ointments, and injectables. Each dosage form requires specific formulation techniques and considerations to ensure proper drug delivery and absorption. For instance, formulating a tablet involves blending the API with excipients, granulating, compressing, and possibly coating.
