Gravitaatiovuotoja, also known as black holes, are regions in space where the gravitational pull is so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. They are formed from the remnants of massive stars that have undergone a supernova explosion. The boundary around a black hole from which nothing can escape is called the event horizon. The singularity at the center of a black hole is a point of infinite density where the laws of physics as we know them break down.

Black holes can be classified into several types based on their mass and formation process. Stellar black holes are formed from the collapse of massive stars and typically have masses ranging from a few to tens of solar masses. Supermassive black holes, found at the centers of galaxies, have masses ranging from millions to billions of solar masses and are believed to have formed through the merging of smaller black holes or the direct collapse of massive gas clouds in the early universe. Intermediate-mass black holes have masses between 100 and 100,000 solar masses and their formation process is still a topic of ongoing research.

Black holes are detected through various methods, including observing the effects of their strong gravitational pull on nearby matter, such as the accretion of gas and dust, or through the gravitational waves produced by the merging of black holes. The study of black holes is an active area of research in astrophysics, as they provide insights into the nature of gravity, the behavior of matter under extreme conditions, and the evolution of galaxies.
