Gozitans
Gozitans are the inhabitants of Gozo, the second-largest island in the Maltese archipelago, located in the Mediterranean Sea. Culturally and historically, Gozitans share much with their Maltese counterparts, yet they possess distinct characteristics and a strong sense of island identity. The economy of Gozo has traditionally relied on agriculture, fishing, and more recently, tourism, which plays a significant role in the lives of many Gozitans. The island's dialect of Maltese is also noted for certain phonetic and lexical differences, reflecting its unique evolution. Gozitans are proud of their heritage, which includes ancient temples, medieval architecture, and a rich tapestry of religious traditions and festivals. The distinct administrative status of Gozo within Malta, with its own Ministry for Gozo, further underscores the island's unique position and the desire of its people to preserve their specific way of life and cultural distinctiveness. Despite its smaller size, Gozo offers a tranquil and picturesque environment that is highly valued by its residents.
